14 Days Uganda Safari

14 Days Uganda Safari combines the national parks of Kidepo Valley, Murchison Falls, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi Gorillas Park. Unlike the usual Uganda Safari itineraries, this 14-day trip extends to include Kidepo Valley that is unknown to many and yet remains a true rendition of tourism in Uganda. Kidepo is home to over 86 mammal species and 500 bird species. This trip will therefore involve game viewing Safaris, boat launch trips, Chimpanzee tracking, Gorilla trekking, authentic cultural encounters and much more. The trip starts and ends at Entebbe airport or Kampala capital city.

Detailed Safari Program for the 14 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International airport

Welcome to Uganda! On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be picked by a French speaking driver from Wimbowe Voyages. Transfer to the hotel and rest.

Day 2: Pick up and transfer to Gulu, Rhino tracking

On the first day of the 14 days Uganda safari, you will be met again by our professional driver guide who will brief you about the safari. Embark on the journey to Kidepo valley National Park, a home to untouched and unmatched wilderness. On the way you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking and after continue the journey with en-route lunch. After lunch you will proceed to Gulu for dinner and overnight stay at Churchill hotel.

Day 3: Transfer to Kidepo National Park- afternoon game drive

Have breakfast early morning and wait for your driver guide to proceed to Kidepo Valley National Park. Check into the lodge upon arrival and get lunch. Rest until time for an evening game drive. You will be able to spot animals like herds of Elephant, Zebra, Bush pig, Buffalo, Rothschild Giraffes, Lion, Leopards, Spotted Hyena, Oribis, Eland, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Black –backed and Side – Backed, Cheetahs, Aardwolf, Striped hyena, Caracal, Greater Kudu, Lesser Kudu, African Wild dog, Kiplinger among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive and Karamojong cultural tour

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 14 days Uganda safari, you are again to meet up with your driver guide to return to the park. This time, you are to do the morning drive through the game trails up to Narus Valley.

Narus valley has a high concentration of animals that are attracted to its water sources. During the dry season especially, it becomes the best spot to find all animals, even those you may have missed in other parts of the park. Buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs and others can be spotted drinking water in the valley.  Among the different bird species are the Ostriches, Karamojong Apalis and others. After morning game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Karamajongs at KidepoTake an interesting cultural tour after lunch. You will be able to interact with the Karamojong people who live in the neighboring villages. They are known for keeping true to their cultural identity. You will learn about their culture, tradition, way of living, see the Karamojong manyattas (homesteads), enjoy their stunning traditional songs, dances many more. Drive back to the lodge after the cultural tour.

 

Day 5: Transfer to Murchison falls national park

You will wake up and have breakfast on this day. Check out of the lodge straight to your safari vehicle and transfer to Murchison falls national park. Check into your lodge, have lodge and rest the remaining part of the day. The drive from Kidepo to Murchison falls park takes about 5 and 6 hours depending on the location of your lodge.

Day 6: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Set out of your lodge for an early morning game drive after breakfast. On the fifth day of the 14 days Uganda safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to spot various animals such as Uganda kobs, warthogs, giraffes, elephants, bushbucks, lions, leopards, hyenas, Jacksons hartebeest, view different bird species many more. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will drive to Paraa landing site for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. You will be mesmerized by views of animals like elephants, buffaloes and antelopes which gather to drink water, hippos and crocodiles in water, variety of bird species like kingfishers, fish eagles, bee-eaters, hornbills, among others. After the boat cruise you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Early morning after breakfast, depart the lodge to start your long journey to Kibale National Park. This Park hosts the highest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa and many other primate species numbering up to 12. Apart from Chimpanzees, Kibale hosts Red-tailed monkeys, Black and white Colobus Monkeys, L’Hoest Monkeys, Vervet Monkeys, Olive Baboons, Blue Monkeys, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys and others. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland tour

After breakfast, you will set out for chimp tracking within Kibale Forest. During your search, expect to see a lot of birds, other primate species and forest mammals like the Elephants, Bush pigs and Duikers, Warthogs and others. Reptiles, amphibians as well as a variety of butterflies can be spotted. Return to the Lodge for lunch.

After lunch, go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp area and look out for some wetland bird species and primates. Kibale forest is home to over 335 species of birds and therefore a good place for bird lovers. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park, Kazinga Channel boat cruise

After enjoying your cup of coffee in the morning, depart the park and embark on your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Depending on your time, have a stop over to take some pictures of tea plantations and crater lakes as you leave Kibale. Check into your lodgeon arrival and have lunch. Afternoon take a boat safari on Kazinga Channel to see many animals and birds. The Kazinga Channel is a phenomenon water channel that links lakes George and Edward. It’s a magnet for both savannah and aquatic wildlife. You will be able to see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, many birds and others. Return to the lodge and rest after the boat cruise.

Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After having your morning breakfast, you will set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. En-route lunch and a stopover in Ishasha where you will be able to view the tree climbing lions. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check into your Bwindi Lodge on arrival, refresh, dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Bwindi Gorilla trekking

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for briefing and go for Gorilla trekking. Gorilla tracking is an exciting adventure where you will be allowed an hour with the Gorillas as you learn from their behaviors, feed, play, build their nest as well as capturing videos for your future remembrance. After trekking, hike back to the meeting point to receive your certificate that shows you completed gorilla trekking in the Pearl of Africa. Then, drive back to the lodge to have the remaining part of the day to yourselves.

Day 12: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After the gorilla trekking experience, head to Lake Bunyonyi (approx. 2-3 hours drive), a beautiful lake surrounded by lush hills. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon as you take a boat ride on the lake.

Day 13: Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park

Check out of your lodge and travel to Lake Mburo National Park (approx. 5-6 hours drive). This Park is known for its zebras, impalas, Giraffes and the beautiful landscapes surrounding the lake. It is also famous for night game drives. Take a night game drive to spot the elusive cats like the leopards and other nocturnal species.

Day 12: Journey to Entebbe for departure flight

After an early breakfast on the last day of the 12 Days safari, you will drive out of the park and start the journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch and a stopover at the Equator. Enjoy the last moments of the safari with some photography and buying souvenirs. Continue with the journey to Entebbe airport arriving early evening. Your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight. End of the 14 days Uganda Safari.
